Abbotsleigh is a Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 day and boarding school for girls located in Sydney. It currently holds the position of the top independent girls school in New South Wales.
THE BRIEF
Empowering young women since 1885, Abbotsleigh aims to deliver deep learning that educates, empowers and enriches the ‘whole girl’ so that she can unleash her potential within and beyond the classroom.
With a new strategic direction the school was seeking a brand refresh to symbolise and express the vision. A visual and verbal shift that could inspire their remarkable girls and community and ensure that Abbotsleigh continues to flourish as an outstanding girls’ school.
THE PROCESS
Working closely with the school’s leadership team school council and students, we unpacked and help define what makes Abbotsleigh; their why, how, points of difference and what drivers will shape their future.
We looked at and created all aspects of the visual and verbal toolkit; including revitalising their legacy colours into a vibrant and modern palette for today, combining classic and contemporary typography to speak to their heritage and their eye on the future, and introducing graphical shapes and linework to bring to life their key message: By giving every girl the opportunity to do more, they have the ability to be more.
At the cornerstone of the new toolkit, a suite of photography capturing the confidence and capabilities of their girls and a new tone of voice expressed through intelligent and thoughtful key messages.
From brochures to advertising templates, videos, marketing collateral and guidelines we have worked with the team on an extensive array of touchpoints. We have most recently completed the significant task of design for their new website.
THE OUTCOME
Positive, purposeful and inspiring – the new brand identity system enables Abbotsleigh to confidently and distinctively communicate to all its various audiences, from current to prospective families, alumni to staff recruitment and retention. With no limits to what the school, teachers and students can achieve, the brand identity contributes to positioning Abbotsleigh as leader in girls’ education.
